Albert (Al) Rhodes was called home to Jesus on November 12, 2023 at the age of 83. He was born on November 13, 1939 in Patterson, New Jersey to the late Arthur and Daisy Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his first wife Janet Dreibelbis Rhodes of Charlotte, his daughter Stephanie Rhodes Bulla of Indian Trail, and his two brothers Jack Rhodes of Tarboro and Art Rhodes of York, PA.
Al passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He enjoyed volunteering, traveling, playing golf, reading financial news, and most of all being a “Pop Pop.” His witty humor and smile will be greatly missed. He was a member of the VagabondTravel Club and volunteered his time with the CRO of Mount Holly and the Food Bank.
He graduated high school from The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey and received a Chemistry degree from Philadelphia Textiles Institute (Thomas Jefferson University) in Philadelphia, PA. Starting a career in Textiles, he moved all across the East Coast and finally settled in Charlotte, NC. Al started his career at Martin Marietta Sodyeco as a Research Chemist where he received three dye patents. In 1983, Al was promoted to Plant Manager of the Sodyeco Plant in Mount Holly, NC and eventually was given the opportunity to move to Leeds, England to manage their overseas plant. In 1993, he moved back to Charlotte, NC to assume responsibilities as Director of Product Management. He later left Sandoz and started his own company named Rhodes Colorants.
He is survived by his wife Jane of Cramerton, son Jeff(Susan) of Glen Allen, VA, daughter Stacey Rhodes Miller(Mark) of Weddington, stepdaughter Sarah Springs(Greg) of Mount Holly, son-in-law Tom Bulla(Dawn) of Hickory, sister-in-law Jackie Rhodes of Tarboro, six grandchildren: Madison and Seth Rhodes, Josh and Carleigh Miller, Joe and Anna Bulla and many nieces and nephews.

His celebration of life is Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm followed by a family visitation at the First Baptist Church, Mount Holly, 300 S. Main Street, Mount Holly, NC 28120.
