The legacy of Mrs. Audrey Mae Hayes announce the peaceful passing of their matriarch on July 21, 2022 in Caromont Regional Medical in Gastonia, NC. She gained her wings surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by her parents Samuel, Sr. and Ozella (Moore) Christie; husband Hubert Hayes, children Sandra Brooks, Robert Hayes, Janet Wallace; grandchildren Shawn and Shanda Hayes; her great-grandson Shawn Hayes-Rowell, great-granddaughter Tae’Aziah Pierson her siblings: Tony Christie, Charles Christie, Samuel Christie Jr., Rainy Bryant , and Anita Parkman. Mrs. Hayes will live on in the hearts of her sons Richard Brooks III and Robert Wiggins; grandchildren: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Tameka Hendon, Mr. and Mrs. Antonio, Sr. and Tonya Tolson, Mandel Robinson, Kemmon Hayes, Jack Zimmerman, Jr., Rosalind Hayes; Mr. and Mrs. Don and Marissa Wallace; Angela Brooks, Karren Brooks great-grandchildren: Mr. Thomeir Richardson, Mr Sinciir Jones Mr. and Mrs. Daniel and Akia Smith, Tiara Bradley, Steven Windley, Nommek Hayes, Baldev Hayes-Zimmerman, Chyanne Robinson, Kiara Robinson, Steven Gomez, Jr., Antonio Tolson Jr., Lunaria Hayes-Zimmerman; her great-great-grandchildren: Harlowe Windley, Tyler Torrence and Amiya Smith; many special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A lifelong resident of Trenton, NJ where she was born and raised, Mrs. Hayes graduated from the renowned Bordentown School, trained in nursing. She worked as a nurse at a nursing home in Skillman then finished her 30+ years of nursing service at the New Jersey State Prison before becoming a teacher assistant at the CYO in Trenton, NJ. Mrs. Hayes was a dedicated member of Samaritan Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hayes will be remembered for her loving ways, generosity and Christian spirit. We will love her forever.
