Betty was a devoted wife, a loving and committed mother to her 4 children,
always putting their needs above her own. She was a faithful and active member of
Steele Creek Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She was a longtime member of the
Billie Watt Sunday School Class, served on the bereavement committee, was active in
the women’s circle, acted as a Cub Scout leader and cheerfully pitched in wherever
needed. Her faith was of upmost importance in her life and showed in the way she
always cared for others.
During her working career she managed a limousine service in Charlotte where
she met many celebrities who came through Charlottes airport. Later she worked with
Flying Tigers Air Freight where her customers and coworkers loved her and could be
sure that their freight would be delivered just as she promised.
Well into her 80’s she was active at the Stowe YMCA of Belmont where she was
part of a vibrant and fun-loving group of friends who participated in the YMCA’s water
aerobics program. Considerably more time was enjoyed over lunches with her swim
group.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty’s life at a graveside service to be held
Thursday August 19th 11:00 AM at Hollywood Cemetery, 540 North Broad Street,
Gastonia NC.
