Billy Dean Horn

Billy Dean Horn, 82, went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 15, 2021 surrounded with the love of his wife Julie Horn and daughter and son in law Callie and Danny Moore.  He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Lonie Horne.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Sybil Swayney and Gerri Russell, a son Sonny Horn and a brother Ted Horn. Bill enjoyed his family and friends. He loved fishing and gardening and his pit bull Zuke. He enjoyed watching football especially the Carolina Panthers. One of Bill’s major accomplishments was his boxing career in the late 1950’s and early 60’s with the East End Boxing Team led by T.L. McManus. He fought in New York City at Madison Square Garden where he won the Golden Gloves in 1957. Since being diagnosed with his illness, he showed strength and courage in facing his illness. Bill was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Julie Horn, daughter Callie Moore and husband Danny of Mount Holly, 2 sisters Jewel Driskill and husband Richard and Judy Staton, 2 brother Butch Horn and Darrell Horn. 2 Sons Billy Dean Horn Jr., and Mark (Horn) Reid.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Horn will be held Thursday May 20, 2021 at 6:00pm at Finish Line Christian Center. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
