Bonnie Fowler Etter Obituary
On Sunday, December 1, 2024, our larger than life, one of a kind mother, Bonnie Sue Fowler Beer Parton Etter 74, went to be with the Lord. She passed at home, surrounded by family and love.
Bonnie was born in Gaston County, North Carolina, on April 13, 1950. Some of Bonnie's childhood was spent in Georgia, where her parents were born, and for a short time, Bonnie lived in the small village of Higganum, Connecticut. As a young girl, Bonnie found this village magical and talked often of how she wanted to return one day. The greater part of Bonnie's life was lived in and around Gaston County, North Carolina.
Bonnie attended Tryon School and Cleveland Community College. Bonnie had a varied career running the gamut from operating a daycare, working in textiles, and sandblasting to her most beloved position at Holy Angels. Bonnie adored the residents and her colleagues at Holy Angels.
What people should know about Bonnie is that she was poetic and intelligent with a thirst for knowledge and loved imparting her wisdom. Bonnie would hold interesting conversations on just about anything and most often was the center of attention. She was funny and quick-witted with her humor, sometimes having a bite. Bonnie made friends easily and was fiercely protective of them and her family. Unable to see it herself, she was always a petite beauty with style and class. Her immense compassion, empathy, and kindness easily come to mind when remembering her. She was a generous person who helped feed the hungry and gave to charities, with her most recent being The Shriners. Bonnie took care of many feral kittens by having them spayed and neutered. She was a unique lady.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her father, Homer Fowler, her mother, Hazel Crisp, her grandmother, Daisy Towe Jordan, her brothers, James Fowler, Sammy Wooten, Buster Wooten, Nathan Whidden and sister, Faye Hoffman, her daughters in law, Jennifer Beer and Danielle Clark. Bonnie's ex-husband, roommate, and best friend, Vernon E. Beer Sr passed one month prior to Bonnie's passing.
Bonnie is survived by sons (Vj) Vernon E. Beer Jr (Angie), Jamey Scott Beer (Amber), daughter Sonjia Suzette Canipe (Danny), grandchildren Justin Lanford (Miranda), Casey Beer, Savannah Foster (Brian), Amanda McDonald (Justin), Jason Beer (Danielle), Kailey Canipe and Henry Beer, great grandchildren Presli Lanford, Rosie Lanford and Cheyanne Foster, nephews Steven Fowler, Steven Hoffman, Shane Hoffman, JR Wooten, Sammy Wooten, Robert Wooten, nieces Angie Wooten and Amy Wooten. Bonnie is also survived by many close friends who loved her dearly. Among those friends are Gail and Joel Rogers, Wayne Morris, Levi Billings, Vonda Burton, Sondra Melton and her daughters. Those of us who know and love Bonnie are heartbroken and miss her. The world will be a little less interesting and special, but heaven will be full of laughter and light, look out heaven, here comes Bonnie Sue.
As per her wishes, services will be private.
