Bonnie Houston Wilson, faithful servant of the Living God left this world to join Jesus, her blessed savior on Wednesday morning, December 27th. Bonnie was born on February 24, 1932 to the late Mamie and Thomas Houston of Pink Hill, NC; the youngest of 17 children. After marrying Ernest (Sonny) Wilson in 1947, they moved to Charlotte and started a business and family. She and Sonny shared two beloved sons, Mike and Wade. The family built a home in south Charlotte in 1964, where Bonnie still resided until recent years. Although Charlotte became home for Bonnie at a young age, she had profound roots “down home” in Eastern NC where she would travel to as often as possible, most especially for treasured family reunions. She even made the drive herself well into her 80’s.
Bonnie was a tireless worker for the Kingdom of Heaven. A true prayer warrior! She served local ministries for several decades and was most recently a devoted member of Steele Creek Church of Charlotte. Bonnie’s love of others was evident in her countless, faithful prayers and acts of service to her family, church and community. Her life was hallmarked by quiet service, whether it was the preparation of meals for others, working in church ministries, or witnessing to others during her daily life.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Ernest “Sonny” Wilson, sons Mike Wilson and Wade Wilson, and daughters in law, Wanda Wilson and Pam Wilson. Surviving family members include her grandson Michael Wilson (Heather), granddaughter Sunny Walls (Mark), bonus grandchildren Michelle Newman (Steve), Joey Bolden, Jerri-Lynn Snyder, Jamie Bolden, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and thought of often.
A graveside service will be held 12:00pm noon on Tuesday January 2, 2024 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
