Brenda Kay Brogdon Martin, born on December 16, 1946, in Swain County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, July 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose strength, humor, and spirit touched all who knew her.

Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Martin of Union, SC; her parents, John and Lola Brogdon; her beloved granddaughter, Amy Michele Whitley; her beloved great-grandson, Cylus Pruitt; her sister and best friend, Elizabeth Welch; and her brother, Bob Brogdon.

She is survived by her children: Angie Helderman of Belmont, NC; Danny Nolen and wife Gail of Alexis, NC; and Kay Rumsey and husband Jeff of Belmont, NC. Brenda was a proud and caring grandmother to Amber Brooks (Belmont, NC), Daniel Nolen (Alexis, NC), Robert Pruitt and wife Sarah (Gastonia, NC), and Brandon Whitley and wife Savannah (Deep Gap, NC). She was also blessed with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Brenda is also survived by her brother, Charles Brogdon and his wife Shelby of Lincolnton, NC.

The immediate family will gather privately at a later date to celebrate Brenda’s life and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and unconditional love will remain forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
