Brenda Sue Pope
Brenda Sue Pope, a devoted family matriarch whose warmth and love touched everyone around her, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of joy, loyalty, and cherished memories. Born on April 18, 1951, in York, South Carolina, to Irene Martin and Charles Heffner, Brenda grew up in a close-knit community that shaped her enduring appreciation for family bonds.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her son Michael Pope, and her sister Nell Black. Brenda’s spirit lives on through her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Odell Pope, with whom she shared a lifetime of unwavering partnership and love. She is also survived by her daughter Debbie Stines and son-in-law Quinton, her sister Gloria McNeal and brother-in-law Frank, six adoring grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.
Known for her boundless affection as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Brenda found her greatest happiness in the simple pleasures that brought people together. To those who knew her best, nothing compared to the peace of the beach, where she could relax amid the waves and sunshine, or the excitement of cheering on her favorite team, the Carolina Panthers. Above all, her family was her world—she nurtured them with endless care, creating traditions and moments that will be treasured for generations.
In keeping with Brenda’s wishes a private celebration of life will be held by the family.
