Carolyn Swink High Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Swink High, who departed this world peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 89. Carolyn was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and spirit touched all who knew her. Born on May 6, 1936, in Landis, North Carolina, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of Elmer Swink and Garnet Correll Jacobs, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her husband of over 28 years, Benjamin Samuel High Jr., and her grandson, Benjamin Max Jones, whom she held dear in her heart. Carolyn's life was a tapestry woven with faith, family, and creativity. A graduate of Landis High School in 1954, she carried the values and friendships from her early years throughout her life. Her faith was a cornerstone, guiding her path as a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis before she moved to Gaston County and found her spiritual home at Chapel Baptist in Mount Holly. Carolyn possessed an extraordinary talent for gardening, sewing, and extreme crafting. Her gardens were a testament to her patience and love for nature, while her sewing and crafting skills were renowned, leaving behind countless treasures crafted with her loving hands. Her passion for baking was well-known and enjoyed by all who were fortunate to savor her creations. A devoted admirer of Elvis Presley, Carolyn's spirit was as vibrant and enduring as the music she loved. Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Wendy High of Mount Holly, and Joan Jones and her husband Rick of Mount Holly. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Carolyn Grace High Devine, and her partner Andrew Kolff, along with numerous cousins and extended family members who will carry her memory in their hearts. The celebration of Carolyn's life will take place on Thursday March 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Holly. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to gather from 5:00-6:00pm prior to the service at the church in remembrance of a remarkable woman.
