Carolyn Jean Leach Mottley

Carolyn Jean Leach Mottley, 74, passed away on Monday April 25, 2022. She was born in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Thurston and Hazel Leach. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Eddie Mottley and her children Linda Carol Mottley and Richard Eddie Mottley Jr. She retired in 1994 as an Administrative Officer for the US Census Bureau in Suitland, Maryland.She was an active member of Waldorf Church of God and the Aglow Ministry. She relocated to Kings Mountain in 2007 to be closer to her daughter's family. She enjoyed cooking especially for family holiday gatherings. She was a very selfless person who was always there to support and counsel others in need. She was a mentor to many new believers and was a "mother-like" figure to them.

She is survived by her daughter Amy Lynn Mottley Childers and husband Chris, 3 grandchildren Brandon Richard Mottley, Tanner Childers and Alexis Childers, special nephew Jimmy Youngblood and wife Amy, her best friend of over 55 years Kathy Stoppa and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held in June in North Carolina.
