It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Catherine Bondurant “Cassie” Maynard on December 9, 2023 at the age of 66. She was born in Charlottsville, Virginia on November 3, 1957 to Anne and Ben Bondurant.
In addition to her parents, Cassie is survived by her husband Will Maynard and his two children Sarah Buckley and Barron Schneider daughter Madelene Skidmore and husband Zack, son Zachary Laffaye and wife Anna, brother Fil Bondurant and wife Sandra, sister Elizabeth Stoner and husband Frank; brother in law Richard Maynard, nephews Scott Bondurant and Jacob Stoner; nieces Jennifer Styles, Anne Nelson Stoner, and Liza Stoner and numerous more extended family.
In college she was part of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority at Elon University where she made lifelong friends. Cassie also enjoyed being a cheerleader and part of the Drama clubs at school.
She moved to Gaston County after graduating college to start a family. While living in Belmont, she joined a small company Styro Systems in 1995 and made her move up to Co-Owner/COO. She worked for Styro for 28 years.
Cassie met her Husband Will Maynard about 12 years ago and married right away for love at first sight.
In her free time Cassie enjoyed traveling, hiking, beach trips, dancing, singing, playing with her grandkids, sitting on the back deck watching nature and enjoying a glass of wine. She had an infectious energy that brightened any room she entered.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00pm Saturday December 16, 2023 at First Methodist Church in Stanley.
Cassie’s family would like to thank everyone for their support during this extremely difficult time. They have experienced an outpouring of love and kindness in the wake of this loss. The family askes that in lieu of flowers please donate to the church”
