It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Barrier, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on February 3, 2026. He was born September 19, 1954, in Cabarrus County, and lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy until his final moments.
Charles was the cherished son of the late Thomas and Kathleen Barrier, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. He graduated from NW Cabarrus High School, where he laid the foundation for a future filled with achievements and meaningful connections. Following his education, he embarked on a fulfilling career as an engineer for IBM, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring. Charles's professional journey did not end there; his thirst for knowledge led him to attend Fruitland Baptist Bible College, where he answered the call to serve as the pastor at Castanea Community Church in Lucia. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, and he was a longtime active member of Faith Baptist Church.
Charles was not only a devoted professional but also a loving family man. He was happily married to his wife, Marilyn Barrier, for 48 wonderful years. Together, they built a warm and nurturing home, raising two remarkable children, Amanda Barrier Cole and her husband Nick of Shelby, and Grant Barrier and his wife Katie of Charlotte. Charles took immense pride in being a grandfather to four beautiful grandchildren: Ethan Cole, Jacob Cole, Emery Barrier, and Parks Barrier. His love for them knew no bounds, and he was known as a kid at heart, always eager to play and create lasting memories.
In addition to his family, Charles is survived by his brothers, Ralph Barrier and his wife LaDonna, and David Barrier and his wife Erika, as well as his sister Ann Little and her husband David. His family was his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Charles had a vibrant spirit and a zest for life, which he expressed through his many hobbies and interests. He had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed fishing. His laughter and warmth will be deeply missed, as he brought joy to everyone who knew him.
A funeral service to honor Charles's life will be held on Saturday February 7, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church at 12:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate a his life from 11-12:00 prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
