Connie Steele Neagle, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Belmont. Born on May 6, 1944, in Gaston County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Joe and Alma Steele. Connie's life spanned over 81 years, marked by her unwavering devotion to her family and her community.
Connie was a remarkable woman known for her sweet and selfless nature. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Don Neagle, and a loving mother to her three sons, Mark Neagle, Brian Neagle, and her late son, David Neagle. Family was everything to Connie, and she reveled in spending time with her grandchildren—Zach, Jaime, Connor, Alex, and his wife Brooke, as well as Dylan and Kelsey. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she took great joy in being a grandmother. Her legacy continues through her great granddaughter, Bryer Neagle, who brought immense joy to Connie's later years. Her sister Peggy Steele Hall is lone surviving sister.
Connie’s professional journey led her to retire from the Bank of the Ozarks, where she was known for her kind demeanor and dedication to her work. However, it was in her role as a matriarch that she truly shone, providing love and support to her family and friends alike.
A faithful member of South Point United Methodist Church in Belmont, Connie actively participated in her community, forming lasting friendships through her shared faith. Her commitment to her church was a testament to her character and her compassion for others.
Connie's funeral service will be held on Monday August 11, 2025, at South Point United Methodist Church, at 3:30 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather from 2:30-3:30pm to celebrate her life and the many ways she touched those around her. Burial will follow in the church cemetery after the service.
