It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rev. Daniel (Danny) Wayne Reece,
who departed this life on September 11, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Daniel
was born on December 5, 1951, in Gastonia, NC, to Boyce Elvin and Bessie McMahan Reece. He
leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and community engagement.
Danny lived a life marked by devotion to his family and his faith. He was married to his beloved
wife, Diane LeRoy Reece, for 50 wonderful years. Their union was a testament to enduring love
and partnership. Danny was a cherished father to Matthew Reece (Kelly) and devoted brother
to Beckie Pennell and Jim Reece (Pam). He was also a proud grandfather to Gibson and Henry
Reece.
Educated in the local schools, Danny was a lifelong learner who applied his knowledge in
various facets of his life. His career was marked by a strong work ethic, where he worked in
Human Resources in the textile industry for over 20 years. He was Six Sigma Black Belt
certified.
Danny was the President and founder of True Life Ministry, a non-profit organization that
touched countless lives in many states. His vision for the ministry was rooted in his deep faith
and his desire to share Jesus with underserved populations such as the homeless, those
addicted to substances, and those in prison. Through the tireless efforts of the dedicated team
of servants, True Life Ministry became a beacon of hope and support for many.
Danny also served consistently at Gastonia Street Ministry, Cornerstone Christian Center, and
many state/local prisons. His characteristics of kindness and generosity were evident in all his
interactions. He was a man of deep faith who took every opportunity to share the Gospel with
friends and strangers.
A funeral service to celebrate Daniel’s life will be held on September 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM at
McAdenville Baptist Church in McAdenville, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:45
PM, immediately before the service. Friends, family, and community members are invited to
gather and honor the memory of a man who gave so much to so many.
Danny will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him. As we mourn his
passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the fact that we know he is in
heaven worshipping at the feet of Jesus for eternity.
Rest in peace, Danny. Your legacy of love and service will continue to inspire us all.
