Dawn Reta Phillips, an exquisitely, exceptional lady who lived an exceptional life, went on her last journey November 27, 2023, to enjoy the promises of Heaven.  Dawn, originally from Ashburton, New Zealand, was a resident of Talladega for over 30 years.  She traveled the world to truly educate herself, nourished her mind as an adamant reader, grew beautiful flower gardens that were a feast for the eyes, and filled her soul with helping others during and after being a registered nurse for nearly 50 years. She also served in the New Zealand Royal Air Force. At the earned age of 88, she had her glorious reunion with deceased husband, Harold “Phil” L. Phillips, and deceased son, Michael John Phillips.  She leaves her legacy in her daughter, Amanda Dawn Phillips Roux, son-in-law, Armand Robert Roux, grandsons, Armand Lucas Roux and Michael John Phillips Jr., granddaughters Samantha Dawn Andrews and Jessica Ann Phillips, great grandsons Jaden Andrews, Kellen Andrews, Ashten Andrews, and great granddaughters Aurora Phillips and Olivia Wright.

            Dawn touched thousands of lives and filled their souls with delight, especially when she shared her mischievous smile and incredible stories. Dawn will be DEEPLY missed.  Her celebrations of life will be held December 9th, 2023 at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Waxhaw, NC, and again April 2024, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Talladega, AL. If you should choose, Dawn requested that donations be made to Folds of Honor, Fisher House, or another charitable donation for disabled military in memory of her.
