Deborah Elizabeth Saba (Debi), 66, of Mount Holly, NC passed away on November 28, 2022 after a long battle with COPD. 

Debi was born on June 3, 1956 to Alfred Saba and Olive Saba (Haggerty) in Willimantic, CT. Prior to graduation, Debi was honored for her volunteer work as a candy striper at Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, MA. She later graduated from Belchertown Junior-Senior High school in 1974 and spent most of her life in service to others. Debi held positions as a medical professional in a number of group homes in Massachusetts and Connecticut, a support professional for Holy Angels (A Place of Loving, Living and Learning for the Differently Able) in Belmont, NC, and a home health care aid for seniors with Homes Instead in Mount Holly, NC. 

Debi was an avid dog lover and will be missed terribly by her two dogs, Luvee and Oliver.

Debi was preceded in death by her mother, Olive Saba (Haggerty) and her younger brother, Timothy F. Saba. She is survived by her father, Alfred Saba; her siblings, Donna Sabaand Richard Saba; her children, Austin Barney Jr. and wife Kathryn Barney, Joseph Broska and wife Indira Broska, and Joellen Broska and Phillip Johnson; her grandchildren, Violet Barney, Amethyst Barney, Austin Barney III, Malia Johnson, Bryson Johnson, and Olivia Broska, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. 

There will be a memorial service held at 1:00pm on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Connections – Assurance UMC, 6729 Old Mt Holly Rd, Charlotte, NC 28214. 

In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation in Debi’s name to the American Lung Association.
