Debra Ann Cordell, loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister, passed away peacefully at her home on February 20, 2024, just one day shy of her 67th birthday. Debra was born on February 21, 1957, to the late Lance and Ina Craig in Caldwell County.
Debra was a beacon of light to all who knew her. She grew up in South Gastonia and was a member of the Union Road Optimist Club, where she exemplified kindness and generosity. Debra was a dedicated homemaker who found immense joy in cooking for her family and caring for their every need. Her family and grandbabies were her world, and she poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and loving home for them.
Despite facing challenges, Debra was determined and resilient. She was proud of returning to school later in life to earn her GED, a testament to her perseverance and commitment to self-improvement. Debra's beautiful voice echoed through the halls of her home, bringing joy to those around her.
Debra was preceded in death by her brothers, Jerry Craig and Billy Craig, and her sister, Amber Floyd. She is survived by her loving husband of over 49 years, Michael Cordell, her children Michael Cordell Jr. and wife Amanda, Jennifer Cordell, Josh Cordell and wife Natasha, and Laura Cordell. Debra also leaves behind her grandchildren Elijah Cordell, Blake Butterfield, Addison Cordell, Lucas Moretz, Eric Moretz, Isabelle Cordell, and Gabriella Cordell, as well as two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Danny Craig.
A celebration of Debra's life will be held at the First Methodist Church of Mount Holly, NC, on North Main Street, on February 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
