It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Donna Bumgardner, who left this world on January 25, 2025, at the Stanley Total Living Center. Born  October 13, 1944, in Gaston County, Donna lived a remarkable life that touched the hearts of everyone she encountered. She was 80 years old.

Donna was the cherished daughter of the Joe and Elaine Bumgardner. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brother, Larry Bumgardner. In her memory, she leaves behind her two brothers, Dennis Bumgardner and his wife, Janet, of Alexis, and Jeff Bumgardner and his wife, Vicki, also of Alexis. Donna is further survived by her two loving sisters, Lorraine Connor and her husband, Lewis, of Hudson, NC, and Sheila Sambrotto and her husband, Rick, of Matthews, sister in law Nancy Bumgardner of Durham, NC. She was a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of the Stanley High School Class of 1962, Donna's thirst for knowledge led her to attend Patricia Stebans Fashion School in Atlanta and later Gaston College, where she earned a degree in mechanical drafting. For many years, she dedicated her skills as a draftsman, contributing her talents to various companies, including Gaston County Dye, Duke Power, and Pike Electric.

Creativity was woven into the fabric of Donna's life. She was an avid reader and an extremely talented artisan, spending countless hours quilting, sewing, and crafting exquisite pieces of stained glass and Chrismons. Her creativity was not only a pastime but a gift that she generously shared with her family and friends.

Donna was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Stanley, where she was actively involved in the church community. Her contributions included participation in the church choir, teaching Sunday School, and engaging in numerous groups that fostered friendship and fellowship. Her faith and dedication to her church reflected her deep commitment to her beliefs.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donna's life on February 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Stanley. A visitation will be held from 12-1:00pm prior to the service. This gathering will be a time to honor and remember a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made to First Baptist in Stanley or St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
