Doris Ann Besse Cloninger, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 23, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 6, 1938 in Harvey, Illinois, daughter of the late Earl Besse and May Pearson Besse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 infant sons Michael Alan and Jeffrey Todd, 3 brothers Edward Besse, Robert Besse and Melvin Besse, and a sister Norma Doehring.  

She loved doing things that involved her family. Throughout the years, she loved her crafts and sewing and spending every available moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 She is survived by her husband of 66 years JT Cloninger, daughters Janice Cloninger, Becki Perkins and husband Steve, son Todd Cloninger and wife Linda all of Stanley, 4 grandchildren Marsha, Stacy, Brittany and Haley. 9 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Mavis Seekamp of California, Betty Krugman of Stanley, 1 brother Donald Besse and wife Candy of Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Cloninger will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday January 26, 2022 at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Alexis. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
