Elizabeth Rafter Curtis Obituary

Elizabeth, 90, of Mount Holly, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends. She was the loving wife of the late Arnold L. Curtis. Born, June 7, 1931, Elizabeth was the daughter of Earsley and Patrick Rafter. She attended and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949. Elizabeth and Arnold were married in June, 1968.

She was the owner of Elizabeth’s gift shop and had a china and crystal replacement business. After Arnold’s death, Elizabeth continued publishing Southern Jewelry News, a tabloid newspaper to the jewelry industry. She was the proud recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award and received the Rotarian of the Year Award. Upon retiring, Elizabeth spent many years working as a greeter at Woodlawn Funeral home in Mount Holly, 

Elizabeth is survived by her two daughters, Cecelia Grose Broome (Carlton) and Sheila Grose Hall; six grandchildren, Brian Broome, Amanda Broome Matz (Tim), Joey Broome (Kristin), Stacy Hall Huffman (Tim), Scott Hall, and Hilary Hall Stephens (A.M.); fifteen great grandchildren, Sophie, Joey, Jack Matz; Maddie, Anna, Brody Broome; David Lee and Owen Barnes; Parker, Bryson, McKinley Huffman; Lucas Hall; A.M.,Sterling, and Salem Stephens; two great-great grandchildren, Willow and Ryker Barnes. 

In addition to her loving husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother, Owens; her sister, Anne Franks; and her son-in law, David Hall. 

Graveside services will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Saturday, February 12, at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Gaston Hospice..
