Evelyn Mae Hendrix Painter, 93, joined the Church Triumphant on Thursday February 18, 2021. She was born in Mount Holly, daughter of the late William and Iva Mae Dagenhart Hendrix. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Painter, siblings Pauline Hendrix, Murray Hendrix, Ruth Hendrix and Gene Hendrix. Evelyn was the 1985 Mount Holly Woman of the Year. She was a member of First United Methodist Church since March 18, 1951 where she was a member and former president of the United Methodist Women where in 1984 received a special mission pin. She was a member of the chancel choir for 69 years. Evelyn was instrumental in starting the community Lenten lunches and the Parade of Tables. She was president of Circle#5 for over 10 years. Evelyn was a member and supporter of the Mount Holly Community Choir. She loved reading cookbooks and mystery novels, and she loved her church.
She is survived by her 2 sons Steve Painter and wife Carol and Mark Painter all of Mount Holly; grandsons Joshua Atwood (April) and Corey Powers, granddaughter Dana Atwood, great granddaughter Brie Atwood.
A graveside service will be held 11:00am Tuesday February 23, 2021 at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery with Pastors Mike Carr and Jerrianne Pyles officiating.
