Frances Farris Wingate of Mt. Holly passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026.

Born on December 18, 1933, in Eatonton, Georgia, Frances was the cherished daughter of the late Russell Clifford and Irma Black Farris.

A proud graduate of Mt. Holly High School, Class of 1951, Frances went on to attend Sacred Heart College. She spent more than forty years at A&E Thread Mills as a customer service representative, where her kindness, patience, and steady reliability earned her the deep respect and affection of her coworkers.

For most of her life, Frances was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Holly. She found great joy and purpose in the Presbyterian Women of the Church and her beloved circle, where her faith and friendship touched many. She also loved traveling with The 39ers, her local senior citizens group, creating wonderful memories as they explored historic sites and interesting places together.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Wingate (Beth) and Michael Wingate (Paulina); her five grandchildren, Taylor, Lauren, and Grayson Wingate, and Alex and LJ Torres, who brought her immense pride and joy; her brother, Bill Farris (Judy); her sister-in-law, Evelyn Farris; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother CR Farris, and her sister Sue Loftin.

A celebration of life for Frances will be held on Saturday, April 25th, at First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Holly. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Brookdale Assisted Living on South New Hope Road in Gastonia for the kindness and comfort they showed Frances in her later years.
