It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Godford Alan Locklear, who departed this life on July 5, 2025, at the age of 56. He was born March 5, 1969, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Samuel and Elizabeth Locklear. He spent his life surrounded by family and friends.

Alan is preceded in death by his beloved brother, Ricky Sherwood, a nephew Jacob Turner and his brother in law Jerry Turner. He is survived by his two devoted sisters, Diane Locklear and Joyce Locklear, and his brother, Larry Sherwood. Alan took great pride in his role as an uncle, and he leaves behind his nieces and nephews, including Sam Hilton and his wife Heather and children, Brittany Jones, Tabitha Mathers, Jeffrey Mathers and wife Traci, Mimi Turner and children, Liz Turner, Lele Turner, Larry Dale, Crystal Helderman, Becky McVickers, and Lori Sherwood.

Alan's life was not defined by grand achievements but rather by the simple joys he found in the everyday moments. He was a dedicated employee of Miller Roofing, where he worked for many years under great bosses Johnny and Sandy Miller. Beyond his work, Alan was a passionate fan of the NFL especially the Carolina Panthers and wrestling, often filling his weekends with excitement as he cheered for his favorite teams and wrestlers, sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held 3:00pm Saturday July 12, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Belmont.
