Gordon William Robinson, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina. He was born  January 1, 1940, in Gastonia, the cherished son of the late Kathleen and Roy Robinson.

Gordon lived a life filled with love, resilience, and dedication. He was a proud Navy veteran, having served from 1958 to 1961 on the ship LST-1156 U.S.S. Terrebonne Parish. His time in service brought him lifelong friendships and fond memories that he cherished. Gordon was known for his enthusiasm for attending naval reunions, where he would reconnect with fellow veterans and share stories of their experiences.

Gordon's educational journey began at Ashley High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. He was a consummate reader, particularly captivated by books that explored military and war history. This passion not only enriched his own life but also inspired those around him. 

Family was at the heart of Gordon's life. He is survived by his loving son, Bill Robinson (Tabatha), and his devoted daughter, Jenni Lee (Jeff). Gordon also leaves behind his step-daughters, Diane Smith and Jimmy Greene (Jill), along with multiple grandchildren and several great-grandchildren who were the light of his life. 

Gordon was preceded in death by his sisters, Marlene Edge and Alice Rudisill, his brother, John Robinson, and his beloved wife, Mildred Robinson. He also mourned the loss of his stepchildren, Donna Greene, James Greene, and Tim Greene. 

Outside of family and service, Gordon enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was a man who found joy in spending time with friends and loved ones, always ready with a smile and a warm story. His presence brought comfort and happiness to those who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gordon's life at his memorial service, which will be held on June 22, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Tuckaseegee Baptist Church in Mount Holly.
