Herbert Lee Smith was born in Memphis, TN.  He grew up in Paterson, NJ and attended Kennedy High School.  He retired as a Pennsylvania State employee.

Herbert was preceded in death by a loving mother, Vella Ree Hope- Thomas.  A 2nd father, Clarence Alonzo Thomas Sr.  A grandmother Louise Hope- Guy.  A great grandmother Golder Agee of Alabama.  Two brothers, Michael Earl Smith, and Archie Cornelius Thomas- Buchan.  A loving sister, Carla Fontella Williams of Florida.   

He leaves to mourn six children-  Tatanisha Taylor, Jama Smith, Jacquice Smith, Lamont Binett, Tiffany Smith, and Malcolm Smith.  A loving wife, Lorraine M. Cline- Smith.  Three brothers, Robert Earl Smith, Clarence Alonzo Thomas Jr. and Wayne Lawrence Thomas.  A sister, Clara Shebia Thomas and a sister in law, Margaret Contes- Thomas. 

Herbert’s additional Florida family:  A 2nd mother, Christine Mitchell- Williams.  Sisters, Brenda Marie Williams- Dumas, and Deborah Annette Thomas- Foster.  Brother, Warren Henry Williams Jr.  A host of grandchildren, a great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
