Irene Warczak passed away peacefully on November 19, 2022, at the age of 98. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Russell Warczak, and leaves behind her son, Kurt Ackermann, and granddaughter Olivia.

Irene was born in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, Illinois on February 21, 1924, to Alfred and Mary Rozwora. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in the Chicago area where she worked in several administrative positions, retiring as manager to the Great Lakes Cruising Club, a prestigious 150-year-old association of yachtsmen dedicated to accurate charting and safe navigation of the Great Lakes.

Irene was known to her family and friends as an unflappable and gracious person of classic Midwestern elegance and demeanor. She took particular care with her appearance in every circumstance and was known as a magnificent cook. She loved traveling and traveled extensively with her husband, Russell, both while living in the Chicago area, and after retiring to North Carolina. To those fortunate enough to call her friend, she was gracious and giving, as well as a fun-loving traveling companion. She was of a generation where perseverance, conduct, and style still mattered, and we are blessed to have known her.
