James Alan Funderburk, born on September 26, 1959, in Charlotte, passed away on March 7, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late Helen and Landon Funderburk.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Scarlett Funderburk. He is survived by his two children, Alicia Kidd of Stanley and Brandy Kidd of Dallas, and his adored grandchildren Cameron, Caleb, Hudson, and Caralina. James is also survived by his brother, Landon "Buzz" Funderburk Jr. of Charlotte, and his three sisters: Wanda Sullivan of York, SC, Myra Bell (Jeff) of Statesville, and Amy Miller (Wayne) of N. Charleston. He leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well.
James graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and had a passion for working on cars, drawing, and collecting antiques. His love for his wife was evident as they spent all their time together.
A service to honor and celebrate James' life will be held at The Freewill Church Of Jesus Christ on 145 Hamrick Road in Gastonia, NC, USA, on Monday March 18, 2024, at 6:00 pm. Visitation will follow.
James Funderburk will be remembered for his kind heart, dedication to his family, and his talents in craftsmanship.
