Ronald Henson, 89, went to heaven on Thursday March 14, 2024.
Raised on a farm in Forest City, NC his love of working the land was evident. He shared his bountiful garden with all of his friends and family. He loved his church, Hills Chapel UMC, his cat, the Tarheels, a good game of spades and his Chevy truck. He would fight you over the last piece of coconut cake. His favorite place to be was on the seat of his tractor or working out in his barn. He was a beloved dad, father in law, grandfather, great grandfather and of course husband to his sweetheart of 70 years, Marie. Ronald retired from Duke Energy Toddville facility in 1992. His work didn’t stop there. He picked up numerous “side jobs” helping young businesses in the community and building lifelong friendships. If you knew Ronald, you were his friend. Though he was a man of few words, his wisdom was worth hearing. All who knew him sought his insight. He often offered advice even if one did not feel it was needed.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Zennie and Rodney, and his brothers Bud and Max.
He is survived by his wife Marie, his sister Kitty Smith, two sons Ronnie(Teresa) and Jeff. Grandchildren Christy Martin(McCoy), Eric, Kelly Henson, McKenzie, Miranda Henson, honorary granddaughter Maggie Roberts and great grandchildren Tucker and Reese Martin and Maddox Henson were indeed treasures.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 18th at 1:00pm at Hills Chapel UMC. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center.
