James Kenton Nichols Obituary

James Kenton Nichols also known as “Ken”,  82, of Mount Holly, NC, went to be with Jesus on April 4th, 2026. Born on October 23, 1943, in Asheville, NC, Ken was the son of Fred E. & Marjorie O. Nichols. He was a graduate of Dallas High School and Gaston College. He worked as a Teamster Truck Driver for many years.


Ken enjoyed classic cars, attending church, traveling to Cherry Grove with family, cruising the seas, watching westerns,and he especially loved being in the air as a private pilot, enjoying his personal aircrafts, and hanging out in the hangars with his friends. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and church, and the friendship he shared with many.


He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Robbie Jean Nichols, 3 daughters, Kim Quick and fiancé Danny Rice, Debra Bauer and husband Scott Bauer, Renee Nichols,3 grandchildren Sheryl Smith and husband Nathan Smith, Cody Jarrell and fiancé Katherine Craig, and Dylan Jarrell, 2 great grandchildren, Raegan and Kaeleigh Smith. In addition, he is survived by 2 sisters Martha and Brenda, and 1 brother Fred.


He was preceded in death by his late parents, Fred E. and Marjorie O. Nichols.


A celebration of life will be held privately with the family at a later date.


The family would like to thank Dr. Badamosi, his great medical team, VIA Hospice, and his loving friends. Ken will be deeply missed by everyone that loved him and he will forever be in our heart
