James Edsell Rushing Obituary

James Edsell "Edd"  Rushing, born on November 3, 1934, in Lancaster, SC, passed away on May 18, 2024. He was the beloved son of the late Marvin and Alma Benton Rushing.

Edd was a devoted husband to his wife of over 64 years, Annette Robinson Rushing, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his great grandchild Bailee Rushing.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Ken Rushing (Brenda) of Mount Holly, Deb Pitts (Bryan) of Alexis, Danny Rushing (Deanna) of Mount Holly, and Randy Rushing (Andra) of Gastonia. James is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived his sister Joan Maddox (James) of Dallas and his brother Jason Rushing of Monroe.

A man of faith and service, Edd was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and lifelong Christian. He attended numerous churches and was a founding member of Friendly Baptist Church.

Professionally, Edd dedicated many years to working as a truck driver. Outside of work, he loved to travel and was an avid sports fan.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate Edd's life will be held at Second Baptist Church on Rankin Avenue in Mount Holly, NC, on Tuesday May 28, 2024, at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. The service is open to all who wish to pay their respects.
In his passing, James leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to his family and community.
