With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Battle Shires, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully at his home on February 5, 2025, at the age of 81.
James was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ella Sue Shires, whose memory he cherished deeply. He is survived by his two sons, Jason Shires and James Shires, both of Dallas, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. James's family also includes his sister, Katherine Wilson of Mount Holly, his brother, Ken Shires, and his sister, Vicky Jenkins of Stanley. Each of them will hold dear the memories they created together, forever honoring the love they shared.
Throughout his life, James dedicated himself to providing for his family as a truck driver, a profession he took pride in. The open road was his canvas, and with every mile, he wove stories of adventure
In his leisure time, James found joy in the little things, particularly his love for classic westerns.
