James Lamar Stewart, born on November 23, 1953, in Gaffney, SC, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents the late Melvin and Lucille Stewart, and 2 brothers Melvin and Donnie Stewart.

James was a loving husband to his wife of 51 years Carlene Stewart and proud father to one son Michael Stewart and wife Cynthia of Mount Holly. He was also an adoring grandfather to Jamie Stewart and wife Sarah of Alyett, Virginia. James is also survived by sister Linda Griffin and husband John of Fairmont, brother Ron Stewart and wife Alisa of Athens, Georgia.

James attended Queen of Apostles in Belmont. He was a long haul truck driver for many years and for the last 15 years he worked locally for Averitt Express. He graduated from Mount Holly High School in 1971.

A funeral service will be held in loving memory of James on Saturday November 25th at 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00pm prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
