James "Jim" William Wilson Jr.

James “Jim” William Wilson, Jr., 73, of Mt Holly passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 6, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his parents James “Bill”William Wilson, Sr. and Margie Wilson Miller and his sisters Mary Wilson Barnhill and Emily Wilson Cannon. 

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years Karen Starnes Wilson of the home.  Jim was the proud father of Jason Wilson of Charlotte and Casey Wilson (Lisa) of Spartanburg.  Jim adored his grandchildren Chloe, Davis, Thomas and Chelsea Wilson.  Jim is additionally survived by his brothers Eddie (Sheila), Chris, Mark and Phillip, mother in law Barbara Queen Starnes and many nieces and nephews.  Jim was very proud of his extended Wilson family and cherished their time together and memories.

Jim attended Mt Holly High School where he was an outstanding athlete.  He loved to recall memories on the football team with his brother, Eddie. He went on to coach Jason and Casey in various youth sports and mentored many young athletes in the area.   Jim was a lifelong sports fan, but his greatest joy was cheering for his grandsons at their soccer and basketball games.

Jim retired From Sysco Foods in 2006 where he was the operations manager.  He enjoyed his career in the food distribution industry, and it influenced his love for grilling and cooking.  Jim began his career at Armour Foods and went on to work for Biggers Brothers and Kraft.

In the summer months, Jim could often be found in his garden.  He took great pride in his tomato plants and enjoyed sharing his garden bounty with his family and friends.  Jim was a man of the outdoors and loved to fish anytime he had the chance.  At most any fishing hole, Jim would have the biggest catch!

Due to the ongoing health crisis we have decided not to hold a memorial service at this time. Jim would not want a celebration of his life to potentially put anyone’s health at risk.
