Janice Elaine Fortner Childers, 73, passed away on Tuesday February 8, 2022. She was born in Winston Salem, daughter of the late William Leslie Fortner Sr and Virginia Dare Gentry Fortner.  She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years Grady Eugene Childers. Janice was a crafter, she loved to crochet, cross stitch and dot art. She was an avid reader. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. She was an active member of Victory Baptist Church where she served as church secretary among many roles.

She is survived by her children Chris Childers and wife Amy of Kings Mountain, Aubra Lutmer and husband Joel of Mount Holly, Melissa McDermott and husband Jody of Gastonia. 8 grandchildren Tanner, Emma, Lexi, Sarah, Abby, Anna, Gracie and Tyler, a brother Billy Fortner and wife Andrea of Concord, 2 sisters Linda Dudley and husband Terry of Kannapolis and Leslie Mesimer and husband Doug of Duncan, SC and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

A memorial service will be held 3:30pm Saturday February 12, 2022 at Tuckaseege Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
