Janice McCummings Obituary

Janice Huffstetler McCummings, 82, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 8th,
2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Kenneth and Dora Alice
Huffstetler in Cramerton, NC. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sandy Williams Ward,
and brothers-in-law James Burr and Richard McCummings. She is survived by her loving
husband Barry McCummings; daughter Kathy Williams Keane and spouse Whit of NC; sons
Victor Hart and spouse Anita of NC, Billy Williams of VA, and Tony Williams and spouse Brenda
of PA; brother Kenneth Huffstetler of Korea; sisters Cecilia Burr of NC and Twynkle Huffstetler
and spouse Linda Childers of NC; sisters-in-law Margaret Slota and spouse Ray of NJ, and
Joyce Zachry and spouse Paul of MD; brother-in-law Joseph McCummings of FL. She leaves
behind 19 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren, who all affectionately called her “Mom Mom”.
Janice married her soulmate, Barry, on April 13th, 1979. Never was a couple made more perfect
for each other than Janice and Barry. They have loved and cared for each other in sickness and
in health, through good and bad, and have set the ultimate example of a loving couple for their
family to follow.
It feels impossible to summarize the beautiful life Janice lived. Her smile was contagious, and
her laugh made it impossible not to join in. She loved to snuggle all the babies in the family, play
cards or board games with her grandkids, and would have happily had a yard sale every
weekend if she could. She played more than her fair share of Bingo over the years, and could
spend hours playing the slot machines at the casino. She loved a good joke or funny story, and
couldn’t wait to get home to share it with Barry, so they could laugh together. That was one of
the many things that made Janice so special. She wanted to share her joy with others. Janice
was kind, compassionate, hilarious, loving, and the absolute most wonderful wife, mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Her passing comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family
and countless others who loved her deeply. Janice had a strong faith in God, and we found
comfort in knowing heaven was awaiting her arrival. The family deeply appreciates your support
during this difficult time.
