Nezzie Jewell Motes went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 3. Jewell was the proud wife of the late John William Paul Motes and the beloved mother to Montana Benfield of Kings Mountain, NC, Debra Lineberger (Mike), Dallas NC and Wanda Haskin (Darrell), Dallas, NC and the late Paulette Walker, Brenda Harris and Boyd Motes. Jewell has certainly had an amazing reunion with her husband, three children and her adored son-in-law, Jim Benfield who have waited for her while in the arms of Jesus. Jewell was the doting "Maw Maw" to 14 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. On any given Sunday you could find Maw Maw's house filled with the large and amazing family she led as well as, a counter of desserts she so lovingly baked. Although she retired from the printing industry, Jewell's most favorite and important job was as matriarch and caregiver to her loving family. A longtime member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, Jewell loved the Lord and truly shined the light of Jesus everyday of her life. Jewell will be remembered and her life will be celebrated on Thursday December 7, 2023 at 2:00pm at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church. A receiving of friends will proceed the funeral from 1:00-2:00pm. Burial will follow at Westview Gardens in Bessemer City.
 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jewell's memory to Mt. Beulah Baptist Church or Lincoln County Hospice. Jewell will be laid to rest at Westview Cemetery in Bessemer City, NC.
