It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joe Lee Rimer, who left this world on October 10, 2024, just shy of his 68th birthday. Joe was born on October 19, 1956, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Archie Patterson Rimer and Gladys Mae Clark.

Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his devoted wife of over 42 years, Judy Rimer, who stood by his side through life's many journeys. Together, they built a family, raising four children: David Runyon, Elizabeth Moore (Miriah), Crystal Sisk (Chris), and Alicia Rimer (Erik). Joe was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and he celebrated the recent arrival of his first great-grandchild.

His family was the pride and joy of his life. Joe is also survived by his loving siblings, three sisters, Nancy Brice and her husband Billy, Beverly Eury and her husband Bobby, Sheila Mahaffey and her husband David, and a brother, Tim Chambers and his wife Cindy.

Joe was preceded in death by his son Samuel Lee Rimer, his sister Sandy Chapman, and a special aunt, Helen Rimer. Their memories lived on in his heart, and he often spoke fondly of the times they shared.

Joe spent his career working at Caromont Health in Gastonia and later at Southside Construction.  He was a dedicated member of the Way of the Cross Baptist Church. Joe took great joy in running the church's sound system, ensuring that each service was meaningful and uplifting.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 4:00pm Friday October 18, 2024 at Way of the Cross Baptist Church in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00pm prior to the service at the church.
