John Stephen Maslo, 78 died peacefully in his home in Mount Holly, North Carolina on September 18, 2020. John was the son of the late Steve and Eleanor Maslo. He was born September 6, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan.
John, attended Osborn High School and graduated in 1960. After graduation he joined the Marine’s. After active duty continued to service his county by staying in the Marine Corp Reserve until 1974. While in the Reserve he attended Lawrence Institute of Technology, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree. Then he attended Western Michigan Universe earning his Master Degree. While attending college for 13 years and active Marine Reserves he worked for Massey Ferguson in Detroit, Michigan as a designer. Several years later He joined Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. John was a Powertrain Engineer working in the various plants in the United States. His Ford Motor company career aloud John to travel, work, and live in Kansas City, Mo., Cleveland, Ohio, Canton, Michigan, and Brighton, Michigan. John retired after 32 years with Ford and moved back to Michigan to work for Yazaki of NA. for 7 years.
John is survived by his wife Dorthea “Debbie” Maslo. He is survived by his daughter Amanda “Mandy” Hendren grandson Harrison Eugene Hendren Hendren and son-in-law Chad Hendren. He is also survived by his brother Tom Maslo of Clinton Township, Mi. sister Judy Jakubowski, Clinton Township, Mi.
In 2007 John retired and moved to Mount Holly, North Carolina to be close to family and being a grandfather to Harrison you he loved so much.
John, enjoyed traveling, golf, and spending time with his grandson Harrison and his family.
He is a member of Calvary Chapel Riverbend. Celebration of Life will be held at Kayser Farm at 1368 Carter Farm Lane Iron Station, NC 28080. In lieu of flowers the family wishes to honor gifts of donations to the victims who lost their homes to and lives to fires in Oregon. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday October 17, 2020 at Kayser’s Farm.
