John Asbury Williams, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on May 23, 2024, just a day shy of his 53rd birthday. John was born in Gastonia, NC, on May 24, 1971, to the late Nettie Mae Arrington Rogers and Loyd Allen Williams Sr.

John was preceded in death by his brothers Loyd Allen Williams Jr., Eddie Johnson, Loyd Lee Williams, Kenny Williams, William "Fred" Rogers, and sisters Louella Williams, Catherine "Susie" Holland and Mary "Linda" Cline.

John is survived by his loving wife, Lenore "Trish" Williams, three sons - James Thompson Jr., Paul McKinney and Thomas Williams, and his grandchildren Luca, Louella, and Laramie. He treated his nephew Brandon Meadows as his own son, sharing a special bond that will never be forgotten.

In addition, John is survived by his two sisters, Dorothy Carver (Bobby) of Cherryville and Bobbie Hoyle of Waynesville, two sisters-in-law Pamela Gilbert (Bo) of Alexis and Paula Gilbert of Dallas, his best friends Bill O'donnell, Scott Rhyne and Jeff Whitlow, who were like brothers to him, and numerous nieces and nephews.

John was a dedicated heavy equipment operator, using his skills to support his family and provide for his loved ones. He found solace and peace in the woods, considering it his church and a place where he could truly connect with God. Known for his thoughtfulness, he never missed a chance to pick flowers for his wife, showing his love in the simplest yet most meaningful ways.

Family was everything to John, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He loved taking his boys hunting, fishing, and camping, instilling in them a love for the outdoors that he held dear. An avid supporter, he never missed a football game, always cheering his boys on with pride and joy.

John lived his life with integrity and stayed true to himself through all challenges. His character shone bright, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
