Johnnie Marshall Gaddis Jr. Obituary

Johnnie Marshall Gaddis, Jr., passed away peacefully at the Robin Johnson Hospice House in Dallas, NC, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  

He was born on January 2, 1940, in Belmont, NC, to the lateJohnnie Marshall Sr. and Pearl Chastain Gaddis.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Howard Gaddis, his sister Jean Gaddis Pendergrass and her husband Charles, sister-in-law Sylvia Gaddis, and brother-in-law Ray Barnes.

Mr. Gaddis graduated from Frank L. Ashley High School in Gastonia.  After graduation he began a 38-year career in the printing and paper industry, including 35 years at Case Paper Company in Charlotte.  He retired from Case Paper in 1996.

He was a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church, where he was an active member until health problems prohibited his attendance.  He enjoyed birdwatching, fishing, woodworking, camping, sports, and working in the yard.

Mr. Gaddis is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda Bookout Gaddis; son and daughter-in-law David and Meredith Gaddis; son and daughter-in-law Martin and Shana Gaddis; daughter Angie Edwards; grandchildren Ben and wife Lourdes, Will, Harrison, Abriel, and Khloe Gaddis, Jake and Anna Edwards; great-granddaughter Reyes Gaddis; sister Phyllis Gaddis, brother Melvin Gaddis, sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Frank Falls; sister-in-law Jan Bookout Witherspoon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Wanda Buchanon, Carolyn Cook, Risa Bolch, and Gaston Hospice and the Robin Johnson House for their compassionate care.  We are forever grateful.

A private service will be held for Mr. Gaddis.
