Joseph Franklin Ham Obituary

Joseph Franklin Ham, Jr. passed away early on Saturday morning at the age of 90, surrounded by the love of many family members and friends in those last few days.

He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Franklin Ham, Sr, mother Margaret Burdell Ham, sister Ann Burdell Coggins, and brother John Burdell Ham.

He is survived by numerous family members including his loving wife of 50 years, Charlotte; his children Todd Ham (Mary), Julie Hooks (Chris), Jay Frazier (Lynn), and Brad Ham (Amber); grandchildren Joey Ham (Lindsey), Jeffrey Ham (Ashley), Ethan Frazier (Kallie), Maggie Serio (Gianni), Braiden Ham, and Nathan Ham; and great-grandchildren Finley Ham, Berkley Ham, Colston Ham, Logan Ham, Owen Ham, Adelaide Ham, Decker Frazier, and Dane Frazier.

Joe was born February 8, 1935 in Charlotte, NC.  He served in the United States Navy as an aviation sheet metal mechanic. With his brother, he started Ham Brothers, Inc. in 1975. He was an active member in the community, attending Ebenezer United Methodist Church and marching in the Oasis Drum and Bugle Corp for 47 years.

Joe had a way of making everyone he was with feel special. Countless hours were spent in genuine conversation about his interests and yours.  He especially loved talking about golf or his pilot adventures. His face would light up whenever he saw his grandkids or great grandkids and he attended countless sporting events and activities over the years. His love was felt deeply by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Belmont at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 16th followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm. A reception will follow.
