It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Marshall Trite Jr., who left this world on December 7, 2025, at the tender age of 23. Born on November 16, 2002, Joseph was a shining light in the lives of those who knew him. He was the beloved son of Joe and Danielle Trite and grew up surrounded by love and support from his family.
Joseph was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving as a CTRSN aboard the USS Gonzales (DDG 66). His dedication to his country as a crypto technologist was a testament to his character and commitment. He embodied the values of service and sacrifice, leaving a legacy of bravery that will be remembered by many.
Joseph was a graduate of East Gaston High School, where his enthusiasm for life and learning shone through. He continued his education at Gaston College, where he earned an Associate’s Degree, reflecting his determination to better himself and his future.
Throughout his life, Joseph had a deep love for the outdoors. Fishing was one of his greatest passions, and he could often be found by the water, finding peace and happiness in nature. His love for the great outdoors was matched only by his love for his family and friends, with whom he cherished spending time.

He is survived by his cherished brothers, Raleigh and Devin Trite; his dear Aunt, U.S. Navy Retired Tracy Brown; Aunt and Uncle Sarah and Robbie Hurst; and his loving cousins, Richie Brown, Mila and Maria. He is also survived by his Great Aunt, U.S. Navy Retired Vickie Richardson. The bond of family was incredibly important to Joseph, and he forged connections that will endure through the years.
