Kenneth "Kenny" Wilson Gowan Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Wilson "Kenny" Gowan, who left us on May 22, 2025, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House. Born September 5, 1960, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kenny's life was filled with love, dedication, and passion that touched the hearts of many.

Kenny was the beloved son of Margaret Gowan and the late Jimmie Wilson Gowan. He was a devoted brother to Kevin Gowan and his wife Linda, and a cherished uncle to his nephews Dalton Gowan and his wife Kacie, as well as Kooper and Karter Gowan, and his niece Cheridan Pasour and her husband Tyler. He was known for his unwavering support and the joy he brought to his family. He was also survived by his best friend of 47 years, Walter Sloope who shared many wonderful memories together

From a young age, Kenny demonstrated a passion for life that was infectious. He graduated from East Gaston High School in 1978, and went on to build a commendable career. Over 19 years, he worked at Daimler Trucks, followed by many years dedicated to the funeral business, serving at Carothers, Woodlawn, and Withers and Whisnant Funeral Home. He also had a brief yet impactful stint with Enterprise Rental Cars. Through it all, Kenny was known for his professionalism and compassion, traits that made a significant difference in the lives he touched.

Kenny's interests were as vibrant as his personality. He was an avid NASCAR and NHRA fan and never missed an opportunity to root for his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. His passion for sports brought him joy and many cherished memories.

Kenny's life was a beacon of kindness and generosity. His spirit will continue to shine in the memories shared by his loved ones.

A service will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly or to the Robin Johnson Hospice House, institutions that reflect Kenny's commitment to his community and his love for helping others.
