Larry Eugene Boone Obituary

Larry Eugene Boone, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at White Oak Manor. Born  August 15, 1944, Larry lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his unwavering love for family, and the great outdoors. He was 81 years old at the time of his passing.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, the late Roy Boone and Hazel Rimer Boone, and his cherished sister, Linda Boone Brazzle. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Mary Kirkland Boone, whose love and support were constants in his life. He is also survived by his brother Rick Boone and his wife Sharon. 

Larry's legacy continues through his five children: Lynn Blake (Laverne), Teresa Holland (Michael), Larry Boone Jr. (Tina), Julie Shives, and Robert Duvall. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Trey Blake, Travis Blake, Tori Blake, Gracie Holland, Payton Boone, CJ Shope, Makayla Potter, Dalton Potter, Lauren Smith, and Jake Lewis. He also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren: Ella, Emma, Eli, Graycen, Myles, and Lily. Larry also leaves behind a nephew, Derek Boone, and a niece, Jessica Sears, who will remember him fondly.

Larry was known for his love of golf, fishing, and Tarheel basketball, often enjoying these activities with friends and family. One of his closest friends and fishing buddies, Randy McCain, will miss him dearly as they shared many adventures together on the water. Larry and Mary loved beach music and loved to shag. 

A dedicated professional, Larry retired from a  career as a truck driver, having worked with Pepsi, Miller Lite, and DM Bowman. He also took pride in being the owner of Chico's Tavern, where he created lasting memories with patrons and friends alike. Larry was a member of the Moose Lodge, further exemplifying his commitment to community and camaraderie.

The memorial service for Larry will be held on November 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM at First Methodist Church in Mount Holly. Friends and family are invited to visit 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital.
