Ligon (LM) Painter

Ligon Meredith Painter (L.M.) 94, of Mt. Holly, NC, formerly Concord, and Charlotte NC, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2023.

Ligon was born on September 11, 1928, to the late James C. Painter and Bertha E. Smith.  He was born and raised in South Carolina.  He met and married the love of his life Polly and moved to Charlotte NC, where they raised their family before moving to Concord NC for many years.

He worked as a mechanic for most of his life, and family was always the most important thing to him.  He always put their needs first.  He led by example and used love and respect to raise his children. He was always there to offer any support needed. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years Polly, his son David L. Painter and brother Alvin Painter.

He is survived by his son Bobby and wife Jerri, of Iron Station NC, daughter Linda Hopkins of Mt. Holly, 2 sisters, Betty Peeler of South Carolina and Ellen Pogue of Rutherfordton, NC. Eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  Service will be private, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
