Lynne Owen Baucom of Charlotte, NC was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on December 10, 2021 after an admirable and fearless fight with cancer.
Lynne was born June 30, 1949 in Durham, NC while her father was attending Duke University and her mother Geneva was a nurse. They moved to Charlotte in 1951 where Lynne was raised. She graduated from Myers Park High School in 1967 where she met her husband Chip and they both went on to attend Wingate University. Lynne selflessly devoted her life to her husband and two sons, Shane and Jason.
Lynne continuously showed her love for others through her unselfish, unassuming acts of compassion by serving her family, friends, and strangers with kindness and quiet generosity. You could find her always volunteering at her son's schools and activities or generously taking plants and flowers to others.
She cared for her mother for years as she had done for her father. Having tremendous love and great regard for them both, assuring that all of their needs were met with daily visits and loving care.
She cared for her family, friends, neighbors, and community showering all of them with her wonderful culinary skills and the love and joy that cooking for others brought her.
She cared for children in need by generously purchasing over 100 pairs of name-brand shoes often taking the child on an additional shopping spree if the need was there. She loved giving of herself to others less fortunate and it brought such gratification to serve those less fortunate while being most frugal with herself.
She was a true example of unconditional love and compassion.
All anyone had to do was to meet Lynne one time and you felt the love and sincerity of a person who spent her entire life giving and doing for others- every day of every week. Always. It was who she was.
By her request, Lynne will be returning to Duke University School of Medicine for cancer research. There she will take on her last role as a "silent teacher" in hopes to assist others who fight this disease. Her beloved father would be pleased and all who were blessed to know this lady, understand this fits the silent servant she was.
This genuine soul is proceeded in death by her father Edsel Owen and her dear son Shane Baucom.
Those blessed enough to call her family and carry on where she left, are her husband Chip Baucom of 54 years, her son Jason (Christy) Baucom, granddaughters Brayden and Aubrey Baucom. Grandson Travis Baucom. Her mother Geneva Owen. Brothers, Mac (Bobbie), Jeff (Beth) and Perry (Judy) Owen. Sister-in-law Carol (Chip) Holden, brother-in-law Gary (Pat) Baucom and sister-in law Angela (Wes) Livingston of Charlotte. Along with numerous loved nieces, nephews and cousins
By her persistent wish, there will not be a formal service. The family will receive family and friends Friday, December 17 in the Fellowship Hall at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC from 9:30am to 11:30am.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials be made to Cancer Research at Duke School of Medicine.
