Margot “Rita” Flowers, age 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on June 22, 2023, in the presence of her beloved family after a battle with cancer. Rita was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela to Russell and Ursula Bayne. After moving with her family to Trinidad, West Indies, she attended Holy Name Catholic School, before moving to the United States. In Charlotte she worked as assistant book buyer at Belk Store Services. In Charlotte, she also met her husband, Buddy Flowers. Together they raised two sons, John and Matthew.
Rita loved helping others, as well as gardening, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles. Her “one of a kind” laugh came from a huge smile that could be seen miles away. She seemed to be everywhere at once to her family. Always there to pass along words of encouragement, and honest, loving advice. The lessons she gave were timeless. To all of her friends and family, may her warm memory help you to “be your best”.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her younger brother, Russell Howard Bayne, and her eldest sister, Marlene Bayne Hughes. She is survived by her husband, Buddy Flowers, her two sons John R. Flowers and Matthew B. Flowers, both of Charlotte, sisters, Mary Cadiz(William) of Eustis, FL, and Kathryn Carver(Jack) of Boyertown, PA, her grandson, Evan J. Flowers, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
