Mary Ann Coleman Horton - age 93 of Wexford House, Denver, NC died peacefully on February 16, 2025, after an extended battle with dementia.

Born in Statesville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. and Mary Pierce Rowe and a graduate of Statesville Senior High School. Mary Ann and her first husband James Coleman were married and spent a good number of years in Statesville before moving to Gastonia, NC, where they raised their two children. Mary Ann worked for the Gaston County School System, was active in her church, East Baptist in Gastonia, and sang in the choir for many years.

Mary Ann met her second husband Bryant Horton on a church beach trip and was immediately smitten. Already in their golden years, they married quickly and genuinely enjoyed life together; working around the yard, as well as traveling, especially to Walt Disney World. Mary Ann had a vibrant, adventurous personality and never met a stranger. She was a truly sincere and loving person.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her two husbands, a daughter, Barbara Darby; brother, John Rowe; sister, Linda Riddle; and a nephew, Tommy Fox. She is survived by a son, Kelly Coleman; grandsons, Zachary Coleman, and Michael and Kyle Darby; niece, Susan Zongker (Randy); nephew, Dennis Fox; stepson Don Maggart (Amy) and grandsons Brice and Graham Maggart.

A memorial service honoring Mary Ann’s life will be held at Iredell Memorial Park, 2304 Shelton Avenue, Statesville, NC 28677 at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February  22, 2025. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating a life that was truly remarkable and will be missed by all who knew her.
