Michael "Mike" Judson Jones

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Judson "Mike" Jones, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, who left us peacefully on July 13, 2025, at CRMC in Gastonia, North Carolina. Mike was born on May 2, 1958, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Judson and Nancy Sherrill Jones. 

Mike’s life was one marked by love, dedication, and a strong sense of community. He graduated from East Gaston High School in 1976, and from a young age, he embraced hard work and commitment, beginning his career at Jones Brothers Grocery at just 13 years old. His passion for the family business led him to a managerial position until its closure in 2005, a testament to his dedication and work ethic.

In 2006, he found love  and married Lora Jones, his devoted wife of 19 years.  Mike cherished his role as a stepfather to Joshua Ingold and his wife Emily and Ian Ingold. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Gail Grice of Mount Holly and Ann Huff and her husband Mike of Mount Holly, as well as numerous extended family members, including nieces Alissa Grice, Kristin Cloninger, Lauren Huneycutt, and nephew Brent Grice. He is also survived by  two grandchildren, Brayden and August Ingold.

Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Jones. The bond he shared with his family was profound, and he took great pride in nurturing these relationships throughout his life.

A man of faith, Mike grew up attending First Baptist Church in Mount Holly and was currently a member of Real Life Church, where he formerly served on the security team. His commitment to his church and community was a reflection of his generous spirit and his desire to help others.

Mike was a true sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for the UNC Tarheels—his blood was "Carolina Blue." He loved to cheer for his team, and his enthusiasm for life extended beyond the game. He had a gift for bringing people together, creating an atmosphere of joy, fun and laughter wherever he went.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Mike’s life on Thursday July 17, 2025 from 9:00-11:00am, at Real Life Church in Lucia, with the service following at 11:00 AM. We invite all who knew and loved him to come share in the memories and the love that he so freely gave. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mount Holly.
