Nathan William Stroud Obituary

Nathan William Stroud Jr., a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on November 27, 1953, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Nathan lived a life full of love, laughter, and the kind of joy that radiates from spending quality time with those he held dear.

Nathan was the beloved son of the late Inda Bishop and Nathan William Stroud Sr. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jerry Harvey, Larry Harvey, Jody Harvey, and his sister Sue Gretzinger.

He graduated from Harding High School, marking the beginning of a journey that would see him become a skilled electrician. Nathan spent many years working at the Charlotte Coliseum, where his dedication and expertise were greatly valued.

Nathan was a man of many interests. He found exhilaration in riding his motorcycle, a pastime that filled him with freedom and adventure. He was a die-hard fan of the UNC Tarheels, often rallying friends and family to join him in spirited discussions and celebrations around the game. There was nothing Nathan loved more than hanging out with friends, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. Most importantly, he cherished the time spent with his grandbabies—Gavin Barnes, Owen Barnes, and Anna Barnes—who brought boundless joy to his life.

Nathan is survived by his two daughters, Ryan Danielle Gentry and her husband Brian, and Katherine Bailee Stroud, who is in a loving relationship with Brandon Barnes. His sisters Kim Ford and Janice Buckley and he also had a bonus brother David Etters. They, along with his grandchildren, carry on his legacy of love and laughter, embodying the values he instilled in them throughout his life.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Nathan’s remarkable life. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Catawba Heights Baptist Church. This will be an opportunity for all who knew him to come together, share stories, and honor a man who brought so much light into the world as they visit from 11:00-12:00pm prior to the service.
